“Policing Pandemia” European Research Observatory Network

The COVID-19 Virus has caused one of the largest social crises in the post-war era, with ramifications for social lives on local, national and global scales. In the midst of this global event, law enforcement agencies have had to rapidly adjust to new challenges and police officers have had to learn to quickly cope with novel tasks and demands.

“Policing Pandemia” was initiated as an open network of individual scholars and practitioners during the early weeks of COVID-19 measures in Europe. Conceived as an informal social research observatory, the aim of this network of scientifically minded observers, is to collect and share empirical data from the various European countries on various aspects of the current crisis and the role for police in it; build a common pool of research on contemporary policing in Europe; and facilitate the exchange and matching of potential partners, who are developing formal research proposals.

Access to the research observatory network is free of charge, no memberships are required. We invite all interested and open-minded academics and practitioners to join our network, envisioning the creation of “observation posts” across Europe. To request access, please contact office@vicesse.eu. Kindly include your name, institution and email address.
